Ken Russell

After stints in the army, working as a stills photographer and a dancer, Ken Russell launched his film career by directing short films. In the sixties he made a series of brilliant television films, distinguished by their often flamboyant visual style. His third feature film, ‘Women in Love’ established him as an internationally known film maker, also making a star of Glenda Jackson. Since then, he has made a string of critically-acclaimed films, including ‘Tommy’, ‘The Devils’ and ‘Lisztomania’. He’s also been in the public eye recently, for his stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house. Ken Russell is one of Britain’s most famous directors, and a controversial and visionary artist.
