voting terms and conditions

  1. The 60 Seconds of Fame vote is organised on behalf of BAFTA. The phone vote is coordinated by the BBC, the online vote is coordinated by Orange. Final voting numbers are verified on behalf the BBC.
  2. Voting may be conducted either by phone, using the numbers that will be broadcast at the appropriate time on BBC One, or online at www.60secondsoffame.co.uk/vote
  3. Voting online is free.
  4. Phone voting will cost 15 pence from a BT landline. Calls from mobiles or other operators will be higher depending on your usual network charges. Calls should not last more than two minutes.
  5. Please ensure that you have the permission of the bill payer before voting by telephone.
  6. Only one vote is allowed per person. This applies whether voting is by online or phone. However because we appreciate that fixed phone lines may be shared by more than one person, there is a maximum of five votes that may be cast per fixed phone line. Calls above this number will not be counted, but will be charged.
  7. In order to ensure fairness, callers from a phone number that is “withheld” will need to follow an additional instruction via a message on the line. Failure to follow these instructions will result in their vote not being counted, but the call will still be chargeable.
  8. Online voting opens at 6.15pm on Monday 28 January 2007 and closes on Sunday 3 February 2007 at midnight. Online votes cast outside of these times will not be counted.
  9. Phone voting opens at 6.15 pm on Friday 1 February and closes at midnight on Friday 1 February in all regions except for Northern Ireland and Manchester where it will open at 10.25pm on Friday 1 February and close at 2am on Saturday 2 February.
  10. Votes may be disregarded if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that they have been cast in a fraudulent or illegal manner (including without limitation, multiple voting).
  11. If there is evidence to suggest that an entrant or anyone working on their behalf has attempted to manipulate the voting result, then this could lead to disqualification of the relevant entry and the annulment of all votes for that entry.
  12. In the event of a major technical malfunction or other incident leading to a total breakdown in confidence in the votes cast either online or by telephone then the right is reserved to disregard all votes cast by the affected method and decide the competition solely on the alternate method of voting ie either online or telephone as appropriate. In the event of neither method being deemed reliable the winner will be selected on the basis of the votes cast by the regional judging panels assembled by BAFTA. The organisers’ decision on this matter will be entirely at their discretion and will be final and no correspondence can be entered into.
  13. The right is reserved to suspend, withdraw or re-set voting at any time at the organisers’ sole discretion
  14. Under no circumstances can votes be changed or withdrawn.
  15. There will be one winner in each of the 15 regions, who will be decided on the basis of the most votes cast in accordance with these rules.
  16. The final winner of 60 Seconds of Fame, will be decided by a Grand Jury selected by BAFTA, from all the regional winners and will be announced to the public on 10th February 2008 and available on the www.60secondsoffame.co.uk/vote website.
  17. In the event of a tie in the number of votes received in any one region, the Chair of the relevant Regional Judging Panel will decide which film wins the region.
  18. The organisers do not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem on any telephone line, system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote being lost or not properly registered or recorded.
