interview with last year's winner
Alex Garcia was last year’s winner. He worked with Wayne Yip to produce the judges’ number one film. Here’s what he had to say about the experience.
What did it mean to you to be a regional 60 Seconds of Fame winner?
It was quite a shock, even looking back on it now I can’t believe that we won London and then eventually the whole thing. The biggest inspiration however was the red carpet - we could have stayed there forever. Being in the same room with Pedro Almodovar, Guillermo del Toro and the like was extremely overwhelming. It has motivated us to pursue that dream and to get back to that room as soon as possible.
What have you been up to since your win?
We filmed a music video for Domino Record's James Yorkston and we just finished our first short entitled 'Samantha'. We are now part of the BBC Film Network, which has been screening our work and we were lucky enough to make the Best of Brits 07, which takes place in LA this October.
We also made the New Directors Reel of Shots Magazine, have just finished writing a horror film short and are polishing a feature length script.
In short, winning 60 Seconds of Fame has opened up many doors but most importantly opened our eyes to what awaits us if we work hard.
