As consumers, we come into contact with business every day. But what we see of an organisation is a fraction of the whole. Open for Business was created with the aim of bringing a 'real-life' context to Business Studies courses.

Within each theme a number of Scenarios have been developed that explore issues in more detail. The aim of each Scenario is to provide a 'working environment' to enhance students' learning, engage their interest and stimulate them to discuss, debate, analyse and research further. Each Scenario requires students to consider customers in some way.
The Scenarios can be adapted to suit differing teaching and learning styles, and teachers can interpret and use them to suit their own particular learning environment. Some may use an active participation style of learning while others may use the resource as a means of enhancing information already available to students.

A research bank of materials is available that can be an open access reference base for students to explore for project/coursework or, if appropriate, they can be directed to specific materials. The research bank materials are original training and background information resources that have only been lightly adapted.
