online advice on mobile and Internet safety

We've developed a site dedicated to discussing issues around the safe and responsible use of our services. It addresses concerns about phone and online safety and contains guidelines to help you and your family use our services in the safest way.

our guide for parents

We've produced a free guide for parents and carers that discusses issues including spam, text bullying, phone theft and access to adult content. The guide, produced with input from the charity Parentline Plus, provides talking points for parents to raise with children who have a mobile phone, and points the way to more information on the subjects concerned. We're also planning to update it to include more advice for parents on issues associated with broadband use. The guide is available in Orange shops and online.

Orange schools programme

We've developed educational programmes for schools to teach children about phone safety, including educational resources that address mobile phone theft. 'You, your phone and staying safe' had been taken up by over 60% of UK schools as of July 2007.

In May 2007 we launched an educational package, Incoming Message, which is a short film addressing text bullying. This has since been rolled out to over 50% of UK schools. In addition to this, in April 2008, we launched a series of films aimed at helping children to use the internet safely, which is also proving popular among schools.

We plan to consult teachers and relevant stakeholders to define future topics for educational initiatives.

phone masts

We also recognise that people may have questions and concerns about phone masts. So we've put together an informative website, dedicated to explaining exactly how they work.
