Engage

Work is a big part of most people´s lives. We want our employees to feel good about working here, and stay with us for years to come. So we look for ways to show them we appreciate the good work they do for us. And we also encourage them to take part in the good work Orange is doing, like our charity partnerships and green projects.

Everyone wants to feel like they´re listened to, valued and able to give something back. That´s why we´re careful to listen to our employees, reward them and give them the chance to get involved.

One of the main ways we do this is through Orange Community, our charity partnership programme. This programme enables our employees to volunteer and fundraise for the causes they care about. Read more about Orange Community here.

listening

people poll

Once a year, we run a big survey. We ask everyone for their honest opinion. What´s it like to work here? What would you do differently? What issues mean the most to you?

We use the answers to make real changes. For example, in our 2008 People Poll our employees told us they wanted us to do more in the area of ‘giving something back’. So in 2009 we launched Orange Community, our charity and community engagement programme. In our 2009 poll, the score for this area went up 10% – the highest improvement in any category.

Econ

Econ are a group of Orange employees who ensure that everyone has a voice and is consulted on matters that affect them most. Econ reps are voted in by their fellow employees at a local and national level. Representatives meet directly with senior management, sharing their opinions and ideas with them. It´s also a chance for our senior management to consult our representatives on their latest proposals.

Advice Group on Disability

We also have an Advice Group on Disability, made up of our employees from across the country who have experience of different disabilities. They´re in constant contact, and meet up on a quarterly basis to work out what needs to be done to improve how we support our employees with a disability. We listen to their suggestions and work with them to put them into action.

rewarding

concierge

Our concierge service is about helping our contact centre employees with all the little jobs they don't have time for. Whether it's picking up prescriptions, doing a bit of shopping, taking and picking up dry-cleaning or buying presents, this service will take requests for practically anything, even down to wrapping Christmas presents. There is no charge for the service; employees just pay for the price of the goods.

special occasions

We take time to mark the special occasions in our employees´ lives – both at work and at home. When one of our employees has a baby, for example, we send them a special Orange themed card, babygro and bib to welcome their new arrival.

And we mark their anniversaries as Orange employees too. With a card, with extra holidays the longer they´ve been here, and an invitation to the Orange Anniversary party when they´ve been with us 10 and 20 years.

awards

Every month, our ‘Brilliant’ awards recognise people who´ve gone above and beyond the call of duty in their day-to-day job. First, our employees nominate each other. Then a panel of people from every level of the business decides who deserves an award.

When someone wins a Brilliant award in the UK, they can also be put forward for our international Orange Stars award, along with employees from Orange all over the world.

perks

We do our best to give our employees special benefits, from dental, healthcare and life insurance plans to discounts on things like holidays, travel and shopping.
