mobile theft

The mobile phone has become part of everyday life, making it easier to stay in touch almost anywhere. It can also be a vital link in emergencies or unfamiliar situations. But it is also a temptation for thieves, with around 710,000 phones stolen every year.

helping young people to protect themselves

'You, your phone and staying safe' is the latest education resource from Orange based on a national safety campaign launched in 2006.

The resource has been developed for teachers of English, PSE/PSD and Citizenship with students aged 14-16. It aims to raise awareness and educate young people on how to stay safe while using their mobile phones.

A key feature of 'You, your phone and staying safe' is the material that students will work with.

This is drawn from real-life examples from the campaign, and includes activities to create exciting and innovative learning opportunities. Resources include initial concepts, early drafts and final versions of materials. The materials are intended to suit pupils' interests and abilities and can be integrated into a scheme of work or used as one-off topics.

'You, your phone and staying safe' is a web-based resource with an accompanying Teacher's Guide and short video clip that is available to secondary schools across the UK.
