Martin Stiven, video transcript

Hi I’m Martin Stiven and I’m vice president for B2B within everything everywhere and I’m responsible for the P&L within the business. Well, everything everywhere is a joint venture in the UK jointly owned by France Telecom and Deutsche Telecom and what that means is we’re backed by 2 of the world’s biggest telecommunications organisations and we can actually take the expertise and experience that they have across the globe and actually mirror it into the UK market. So it means that for people who want to join this business, not only are we a vibrant start-up, exciting place to be but we’ve also got the backing of 2 of the world’s biggest companies.

In terms of propositions, of course, we’re going to have the biggest network in the UK when it comes to mobile but of course in business it’s going to be about much more than mobile and that means things like fixed services, converge services between mobile and fixed, managed services that we know that corporates and small businesses want and also, IT type services as well. So this is a huge opportunity in terms of a number of adjacent markets.

I think what’s going to happen in the medium term, you’ve seen the advent of smart phones, you’ve seen cloud computing, you’ve seen all these things coming along that are changing the way organisations do business. The thing that businesses want above all else is for us to drive simplicity out of that complexity and help them manage through their life cycle, through all of these technologies we know we can do that with the expertise that we have here and we need more great people to join us who can take us on that journey.

In terms of the people that we want to recruit, a whole diverse set of people really, so people who can bring fresh ideas, fresh thinking to the business from a range of industries, not just the telco industry but people in particular who have been successful in their own environment and can share that learning with us here and can help us drive forward.

I joined this organisation because I saw a huge opportunity, 2 organisations coming together, a new presence in the market, untapped potential and a real opportunity to shape this business and to create a team that would be a formidable force in the market.
