Nottingham
Our Connected Britain research found that local environment is the most important factor for Nottingham residents when deciding where to live and work. With so many exciting redevelopment projects underway, many Nottingham residents may decide to stay put in future rather than move elsewhere to take advantage of the choice offered by universal connectivity.
And why not, when Nottingham has so much more to offer than heroic men in tights! The city has proved itself as a great location for businesses, with over 50 regional and national headquarters of major brands located here, such as Experian, Boots Plc, the Government Office for the East Midlands and Capital One.
Nottingham is one of the Midlands’ shopping hotspots - in 2007 the city was number five in the retail shopping league of England, coming in behind London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Nottingham is also home to two universities: the University of Nottingham; and Nottingham Trent University, which together are attended by over 40,000 full-time students.
The local government is committed to developing the city with more than £1 billion being invested - covering transport, infrastructure and the total built environment. There are three major designated regeneration zones around the city centre - The Eastside, The Waterside and The Southside – all of which have huge development potential.
