paying for calls
PAY MONTHLY

Making a chargeable call

Per second charging applies to all types of chargeable calls*, unless otherwise stated.

Non-roaming call durations are recorded to a 100th of a second by the Orange network. The duration is rounded to the nearest second (up or down as appropriate) for billing purposes.

A call starts when a call is answered by a person or an answering device. If a call crosses into a different time of the day (for example from peak to off-peak) the call is split into separate in-peak and off-peak components, rated and then combined into a single charge.

A call ends when you either end the call on your device, 15 seconds after your device loses contact with our network, or 40 seconds after the last party you were connected to has ended their call, if you do not end the call on your handset/device before then.

Roaming calls are dependent on the foreign network’s charging principles. Call durations may not be recorded on a per second basis, but instead may be recorded on a 30 second or per minute basis. If you wish to find out how other networks will charge your calls before you travel abroad, these details are available if you call 150 and speak to a customer services representative.

GPRS (packet-switched) data usage, including WAP and Internet browsing, is billed per byte and rounded up to the nearest kilobyte. A kilobyte is equivalent to 1024 bytes and a megabyte is equivalent to 1024 kilobytes.

Content downloads (such as ringtones and pictures) are charged per event. Content that is provided by Orange will appear on your bill as the price excluding VAT. Content purchased from a 3rd party may be billed differently. Please refer to the 3rd party for charges and payment details.

Text Messages are charged per event. A text message will be charged to the customer only after the intended recipient has received it. Text messages that exceed 160 characters will be sent as two or more messages and charged accordingly.
