dealing with offensive content

If you’re concerned about coming across offensive material, or are worried about your children being exposed to it, there are steps you can take.

Content filters are available which can block certain sites and material. However no system is completely effective. Suppliers of illegal, sexual, violent of socially disruptive material are constantly coming up with ways to overcome software barriers.

That’s why, as well as using filters, it’s important to raise awareness of the issue with your family. Education and words of warning are more effective protection than technical aids. After all, you can never be sure that the computer your child is using – for example, at a friend’s house – has any form of protection.
