‘Web 2.0’ is a phrase that describes how, in the last couple of years, it has become possible for anyone to create their own, ‘user-generated’ online content or web site.
A good example of this is MySpace, which gives people their own web page they can update, post images and video on, and write a blog for – a kind of online diary. Other sites include Bebo, Facebook and Lunarstorm.
Another good example of a user-generated content site is YouTube, which allows people to upload video for any other web user to watch. Flickr is a site where people can post their photos.
There are various kinds of ‘web 2.0’ or ‘user-generated’ sites, but what they all have in common is that people can post personal information, which can be seen by anyone else unless privacy settings are set to prevent this.
