how to avoid spam
While it’s unlikely your life will ever be entirely free of spam, there are steps you can take to avoid it.
Read terms and conditions on forms carefully before giving out your mobile number.
Make sure you tick or untick permission boxes when you’re filling in online or paper forms, if you don’t wish to receive marketing messages. Or, if you’re using your mobile to give details, let the person you’re talking to know your preferences.
Never sign up with websites promising to remove your name from spam lists. They might be legitimate, but sometimes they actually collect mobile numbers.
You can also register for free with the Telephone Preference Service. They can stop commercial calls being made to your phone. Visit www.tpsonline.org.uk
