street safety - talking points for children

Here are some suggestions to get children thinking about using their mobile safely when they’re out and about, cycling or walking.

  • Don’t ride a bicycle with music playing so loud you can’t hear other traffic.
  • Don’t cross roads while listening to music, or using any other feature of your mobile.
  • Try not to show a new phone around, except to close friends.
  • Don’t leave your mobile lying around, on tables or benches etc.
  • Avoid making calls in very visible and public places – a lot of thefts take place when the victim’s making a call.
  • Avoid being overheard, especially if arranging a meeting.
